What are life transition difficulties?
Life transitions are periods of significant change that can require us to adjust to new circumstances, roles or ways of seeing ourselves. They can follow events we have chosen and looked forward to, as well as changes that are unexpected, unwanted or outside our control. Even positive changes can involve uncertainty, loss or a period of feeling unsettled.
At these times, familiar routines, relationships or sources of identity may shift, while the way forward is not yet entirely clear. This can bring mixed emotions, such as excitement alongside anxiety, relief alongside sadness, or a sense of being caught between what was and what comes next.
When adjusting becomes particularly difficult, psychological support can help you make sense of what the change means for you and find ways of navigating it that fit your circumstances and values.
