What does LGBTQIA+ support look like?
People seek LGBTQIA+ affirming psychological support for many different reasons. You may be exploring or questioning your sexuality or identity, thinking about how you want to express or share this part of yourself, or navigating relationships, family or cultural expectations, belonging or acceptance. For others, their identity may feel clear and settled, while experiences such as discrimination, rejection, concealment or feeling misunderstood create their own challenges.
LGBTQIA+ people can also experience the same psychological difficulties as anyone else, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief or relationship concerns. Sometimes these difficulties intersect with experiences around sexuality or identity, and sometimes they do not.
Affirming psychological support provides an opportunity to explore what you are experiencing without assuming that your identity is the problem or directing you towards a particular conclusion. It can help you develop greater self understanding, navigate difficult experiences and make choices that reflect what matters to you.
