Laburnum Psychology are excited to be facilitating two 6 week parenting programs in 2023. We will be running Tuning into Kids ® and Tuning into Teens ®.
These highly renowned evidence based programs focus on the emotional connection between parents and their children, from pre-schoolers to teens. The programs are proven to be highly successful at bringing improvements in parenting, parent-child relationships and children’s emotional competency and behaviour.
These groups are designed to assist parents to become more aware and more able in managing their own emotions. The program also assists in developing skills in how to respond to children using an emotion coaching parenting style. Our facilitators are experienced psychologists and parents themselves. They have witnessed personally and professionally how these skills enhance a child’s wellbeing, mental health and ability to regulate challenging emotions. This in turn leads to better family communication, closeness and enhanced relationships.
Most parents are on the same page when it comes to the question of what they truly want for their children and their family as a whole. We all want our children to become functional and adaptive individuals who can contribute positively within society. Sometimes the pathway to this feels challenging and overwhelming, and despite our best efforts we may not feel confident that we are managing. Negative or destructive behavior or poor mental health in our children can be immensely challenging for parents, especially if we feel lost or uncertain of what more we can do. We want to support parents who find themselves in this position, and to understand that they are not alone in their experiences. Our parenting programs aim to provide strategies to help manage the most difficult times with your children. We believe this will support you in moving toward your overall goals, rather than simply reacting in the difficult moments and surviving day to day.
We are running these groups to help parents take charge of their family dynamics and find ways to create happier and more resilient kids, and more peaceful and cooperative relationships.
